Seismic Damage Assessment
As either an integral part of
the design process or insurance claims, several seismic damage assessments were performed
for
industrial, residential and public buildings. Amongst those, nuclear power plant
buildings at Bruce, Pickering and Darlington generating stations in Ontario, Canada and
AP600 Reactor Containment and Spent Fuel Building for Westinghouse Nuclear Division, USA,
church tower in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, etc.
Dam Safety Program, Ontario, Canada
When Ontario Hydro initiated the dam safety review program for its inventory of over 200 dams, no methodology was available for a cost-efficient prediction of seismic response under severe earthquakes.

A new method, developed by Dr. Danay and published in the ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering in 1993, resulted into a significant cost reduction of the analytical effort. Based on this method, finite elements stress analyses of several major concrete dams in Ontario, Canada, were carried out.
